Documentation teams write for two audiences at once: customers who need a public help centre, staff who need a private one. Three or four write it; everyone else only reads. Per-seat tools bill for the readers anyway, and that is the bill this one refuses to send.

Basic is $100 a month for one knowledge base and one author, Pro $250, Business $500. Extra authors cost $25, extra knowledge bases $50, and readers are unlimited and uncounted. The AI chatbot answers only from your own articles and spends a credit whenever a reader's question returns at least one article, even when it fails to answer: 100 credits a month on Basic, 500 on Pro, 1,000 on Business. More cost $50 per 1,000, arranged by email.

The ladder buys less than it looks. SSO, the API, custom domains and the chatbot sit on every published plan, so the extra $400 buys article ceilings of 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000, analytics kept 45, 90 or 450 days, and a weekly call instead of a monthly one. The docs then contradict the cards: the HIPAA agreement and the uptime guarantee are Business and Enterprise only. Hosting is AWS in Virginia with no EU region, no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report exists, and the export cannot be re-imported.

Document360 sells the same job and publishes no price. HelpKit runs $15 to $79 per site but leaves the articles in Notion. Helpjuice is the nearest self-serve substitute. All four sit in knowledge base software.
